Thanks for the kit! I envy you the new addition.

Great write-up!
I'm just a week or so into my Baja experience, but I'd already been planning to tackle this (once it's warm enough outside to feel my hands.) The front's completely gone, and the rear is tearing, but intact enough to serve as a pattern. I was considering using some thick neoprene. Any strong opinions one way or another in that regard?
Thacrudd, are you still looking for a metal pattern? It shouldn't be too hard to cut from heavy sheet metal. Likely wouldn't be until Spring, though.
And congratulations on your new son, by the way!

Any chance you have any more of these collecting dust?
Re: free cup holder restoration kit - updated 6-4-10!
Hey just got my baja a couple of weeks ago and love it but had noticed that both the front and back cup holder rubber flaps were broken and was in the process of trying to figure out how to fix them when I came across your post.
I was wondering if you happened to have any more of those kits?
If not I'm definitely going to try to use your plan, it's a great idea!

Any chance you could list a couple of these on ebay? I'm interested.
2005 Subaru Baja Turbo 5 Sp. Good luck finding one of these. This is only one vehicle in a weird collection... all of which are ready to go!

Yes! Perfect idea!
Post these on ebay, and we all win: you get a little compensation for your significant efforts, we get the pieces we need (who but us scoobers would bid on them?!?) and we don't feel guilty about taking what you're offering so generously for free.
I had replaced my front cup holder rubber bit a long time ago with a crudely cut piece from a rubber-ish mouse pad. Partial success. It's wasn't the same stiffness, and now they're cracking and about to fall apart.

I, too, would love a restoration kit and would gladly pay a few bucks for one.

I sent a message to the guy months ago, I don't believe he's an active member here any more. I purchased the OEM cup holder foam from SubaruPartsDepot.com, the part number is 66155AE02A, and it fits both front and rear cupholders.
