New 05 Turbo owner - Wanted to say hello and ask tons of ?s

Post by Notthd »

Glad I found this forum- Wanted to say hello, recently got ahold of a 50K miles 2005 Turbo in almost new condition. Love the car and have some questions. After driving test driving the car and having a PPI done no issues were found. I had records but they were incomplete so I had the all the belts including the timing changed for good measure.

I recently discoverd oddites and many after market items. Are these common?

Coil over suspension, fully adjustable from and rear, adjustable dampining also.
Camber plates fully adjustable ( not to mention nicely anodized.
Cool air intake with what looks like a shorter tube.
Intercooer looks larger than normal.
Have no idea how big the turbo should be or what model is stock.
What boost do these things run? What are common mods?
I am wondering if the turbo system has a manual bleed off set up but not sure if these cars can, especialy since there is no boost gauge.

Any thoughts of how to squeeze more HP out of this baby. It is suprisingly fast as it sits....

All for now- thanks for listening- Cheers,Mike

first off, welcome to the forum! First, you probably want to hook up a boost gauge to see what levels you are running. Take some pics of the engine bay, and maybe a few of us can identify the aftermarket parts for you. There is also a Baja section over on NASIOC that may have answers for you as well. If there is an aftermarket turbo on there, it hopefully has a tune on it, or else you may run into engine problems. You say it is fast, so if it is running smooth, it may be fine. All modern subarus have Electronic Boost Controllers so the boost level is controlled by the ECU...but that's another can of worms.
