Hey, Do any of you know how to rig a switch up. So that it would trick the ECU into a high idle state. Main purpose would be, if I get all the lights mounted on the Baja I want to. If I have to exit the vehicle and leave them on if I want to become my own Sun. I would need the engine to be at a higher RPM to keep the alternator up to speed. I know I can just carry a brick in the car. But the switch would be a lil more elegant and less redneck-ish. Thanks !!
The idle in my '06 seems to fluctuate with the radiator fans. Fans kick on, idle speed goes up. My question: is it raising the idle specifically for the fans, or just the generic electrical load? If it's any load, then you should be fine without modifications.
Is it a turbo or non turbo? The turbo does not have an IAC valve as the electronically controlled throttle plate is actually opened and closed to maintain idle which is programmed into the ECU.
I think the simplest solution is to get an Overdrive pulley (NOT to be confused with a performance lightweight or underdrive pulley) for the alternator so it will be spinning at a higher RPM at idle. This should prevent voltage drop at idle.
I have 6 hella 500 driving lights and a winch hooked up to my car as well as headlights and a subwoofer and speakers and they work just as well at idle as the do at higher rpm's. Granted I bought a 250$ optima battery to handle the demand.
