03 Baja "Sport" from California to Colorado

Post by tomato_88 »

So my wife and I just drove from the Central Valley in California to Denver Colorado, totaling nearly 2500 miles by the time we got back home.
This was the first "long" road trip in the Baja. I have only had it a couple of months. It has 153,000 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 158,000 on it. I was confident that the engine was strong enough, but I had concerns over the (automatic) transmission. She did fine in the hills, even the higher elevation, steep Colorado hills. We had a ton of fun, and the all wheel drive came in handy. Coming out of Veil in Colorado it started to snow on us. (Keep in mind the forecast said it was supposed to be mostly sunny). I have OEM Potenzas on her with who know how many miles. They look to have at least 1/8 tread depth left and I assumed would be fine till the end of summer. Even in the 4" snow and occasional ice the Baja kept straight and true. (and was a ton of fun) We saw some beautiful scenery along the way. Here is a pic from the snow in Colorado after an hour or so.

Thanks for reading,
