I'm feeling those stickers on the bar. Maybe I will add stickers too. The bar gives a nice touch on your color scheme as well.

I thought they would add a nice look to it, the subtle stickers are for my lift kit and I never knew where to put them, the bar was the perfect place.

Finally got the bar mounted this weekend, my truck needed stabilizer bushings (front and rear) the clunking was driving me nuts, so I waited to do it all at once. Here is a picture showing old and new front bushings


I had some fitment issues, some I expected because of the lift kit, others I did not. The rear holes (left and right) of the stabilizer mounting points needed to be elongated to allow the bolts to be started. They just wouldn't catch, and I didn't want to force them and take a chance on damaging the threads.

So I used three of the heat shield mounting bolts (Genuine Subaru parts, mind you )


to get this result


you can see that the bar sits a little lower then others



Anybody planning on using the Black Magic Hellas will need to drill the light tab holes out to 7/16" in order for the mounting bolts to fit. The result is fantastic

Longer mounting bolts are necessary for the winch (1/4 x 1 3/8") will work fine



Others mentioned louder engine noise after mounting the skid plate, I used rubberized under coating on the inside of the skid plate to absorb the sound....works great One other thing worth mentioning for anyone who has a N/A, you will need to use a spacer (about 3/8") on each of the rear mounting bolts of the skid plate to prevent it from hitting the left and right exhaust header heat shield seams.



I plan on getting the wiring done next weekend, I have some bartering arranged with a mechanic friend of mine (a little networking job for some wiring) Works for me.

PS: Derek, none of this reflects on the quality of your bars, they are excellent, the fact that you had only one model of Baja to use, to produce a template, with overall great fitment is amazing. I would only suggest making the rear stabilizer mounting holes a little longer, and any bars made for a N/A that have a skid plate, to space those tabs down about 3/8" to clear the exhaust manifold. I took my Borla header off, and put the stock manifold on because I had cracks on the Borla (go figure) after I repair it I will see how that works with the skid plate.

I can't thank you enough for posting all this detail - its a tremendous help. All your points have been noted - the hole size/locations in particular are very helpful. I'm glad it looked like there where only minor modifications to accommodate you the lift you have on your truck. Thanks for having the confidence in us and your self in being able to pull this off. I like the idea of spraying a rubberized undercoating to the top of the skid plate to address the sound/noise issue - hopefully a few others will try that a report similar results.

Can't wait to see more pictures and to see if you found any other ways to wire the winch.
