Finally a Baja Owner

Post by theluckyone17 »

Well, almost. I'm calling it close enough. Sold my 97' OBW tonight, two hours after I posted it up on Craigslist. Didn't get as much as I wanted for it, but cash speaks loudly. That, and knowing that I need to just get it over with and sell it rather than try to hold onto it. I can't cry about it, so I'm drinking a wee bit of whiskey instead .

I also paid for a 2006 Baja today, too. That's killing the pain better than the whiskey is. Short story: 2006 Baja Sport; Black; 5 spd; ~53,300 miles; Mudrat bumpers (I believe) on the front and rear, cargo rack on the top; $9,950.

It's on the other side of the coast, so I've got a transport company shipping it to me. Should be picked up around next Monday, delivered by the end of the month ish. Can't wait to see it... drive it... drool over it. It's been an experience so far, buying a car long distance. So far, everything looks legit, but I obviously won't know for sure until I've got it sitting in my driveway.

Pics... this thread needs pics...

First on my agenda: Get a black bumper cover and fix that missing cladding on the rear. It looks like a pair of cheekless pants on a member of the Village People (no offense to those folks who like VP, I just don't like the thought of 'em in cheekless pants. Ick).

I like it, and I agree about the cladding in the back. The cladding on these trucks are part of what gives them there look, but it also makes it hard to do body mods (fender rolling, custom rear bumpers, etc). Looks good though, keep us posted

The seller didn't say anything about a lift. It does look like it's got extra room at the top of that wheel well in the front though, doesn't it? I think it may be the angle of the pic. Maybe. The other side doesn't look quite as "lifted", at least to me:
