NEw air intake

Post by mattada »

Anyone replace the stock intake with something else? ram / forced air?

I have a 2005 sport manual, and cant help but think the routing on the intake is prime for something better. Sure the turbo has a scoop, but there has to be some aftermarket stuff for the sport right?

By the end of this March, we will have this product available for sale:

We have a MAP version available now but we are holding off on its production until we complete the development on the MAF version - that is slated for next weekend.

Is the MAF the version for a non turbo 2.5 engine? I wanted a turbo, but wife fell in love with a non-turbo.

your concept looks pretty good. Is that filter inside a regular one or does it have to be like a afterarket one like OEM K&N panel filter? Just curious

I built this a few years ago. I cut a piece of 2.5" OD exhaust pipe down to 14" and used two 45 degree rubber hoses to connect it all together. I added a K&N filter while I was at it. The engine really moans under full throttle which I think sounds rather cool. The resonator box is there to reduce intake noise but usually reduced power.

I have no idea if the pipe in place of the resonator provides any extra power.

Yes, the MAF version is being developed this weekend and would be for any non-turbo 2.0 and 2.5 MAF engine.

We shaved my K&N a little off the top to get it to fit - this is not the final design as our last stage of development is this weekend. Right now we are not sure if there will be two version or one with an optional mounting point for MAF based cars - where the MAPs will be a clean tube. If there are two models, then the OEM filter will be used. If there is one version then the square MAF air box filter would be used.

We'll see what the weekend brings us.
