Idle issues

Post by daydrew »

I have an 04 turbo that is having problems with start up after having set for about an hour. After you run the vehicle and shut if off, then come back after about an hour or so and try to restart it, it will start, rev to approx 1500, as normal, then idle all the way back to 0 and shut off. When you try to restart, it will act like it's out of gas for a bit then catch and restart. After that, it will run ok, with minor surge and hesitations being felt when at speed. There are no CEL's.

If that was happening on my 97 Leg or SVX I'd replace the coolant temp sensor. I have no experience with the newer 2.5's though.

If you do get a CTS, get it from Subaru. Most times that aftermarket are used they don't work right.

It's a common issue on all of my other Soob's.

The ECU doesn't know the accurate temperature of the engine so it sends the wrong amount of fuel. There are two CTS's, one has one wire and feeds the dash gauge, the other has two wires and feeds the ECU. Give me an hour or two and I'll go out to my Baja and find where it is.

Part #22630AA11A, ~$21 SRP at your local Subaru Dealer.
