Keyless remote replacement

Post by WillGT »

Anyone replaced their keyless remote with the new teardrop ones? My blob style one finally bit the dust. Subaru gave me the part number of 88036xa010 which is the teardrop one, but it has the trunk button. The Baja obviously does not need that. What I did also see on ebay is that there are some teardrop remotes with only 2 buttons (lock/unlock) for the impreza. Will those work as well on the Baja?

If the FCC ID: is the same, no problem to install on BAJA.
This FCC ID can read on back side of remote control.

The FCC ID though for the Teardrop remotes are all the same. Same goes for the Blob ones. All the FCC id really shows is the style. So for upgrading to the Teardrop ones you are switching to a new FCC id.
I found this page http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_par ... rtid=18993 The first part number listed is 88036XA010 which is for the new teardrop remotes, the other 2 are for the blob remotes. That tear drop remote however has a trunk button, which obviously is not needed and the remote sells for more on ebay. There is a different teardrop remote that only has and unlock and lock that was sold for the impreza, different part number same fcc id though, those are much cheaper on ebay, just not sure if that will work as well
