Starting to look for my first Baja

Post by mowillie »

I have been searching for a while now, and I think I may be close to making the plunge. It seems that most Bajas I have seen online for sale have high mileage. Is close to or over 100K high for these vehicles? Also whats the opinion of turbo vs. non? General maintenance like timing belts, shop work or can weekend garage warriors do it?

As they stopped making the Baja most who have them hang on to them until over 100,000 miles.

Big issue is the timing belt should be changed and belt tensioners should be checked/replaced.

Next, have a leaked down test done to make sure the valve and rings/cylinders are okay.

Make sure they have records to prove regular oil changes.

2003 sport model
yellow with silver
normal wear and tear
62000 miles
heavey duty reciever hitch
i have put a Warrior style roof basket on it that came off my old truck. with PIAA lights
I have narrowed the problem down to being the center differential. looks like it might cost me some big money.
I will try to get some pictures of it put up here.
