How difficult is Fuel Filter Change NA Non-Turbo

Post by davecoon13 »

How hard is it to change the fuel filter on the Naturally Aspirated (non-Turbo) model?

Are there any tricks to it? To me it looks like you just unclamp the 2 hoses and clamp them onto the new fuel filter. Rather than fork over an extra $60, maybe I could do it myself. I already saved big time on the Cabin Air Filters by getting those on ebay and doing those myself.

I found this tutorial on Scoobymod, it looks too easy.

The filters are on ebay for under $10 with free shipping, half the price of the local auto parts store.

I did it! It took me all of 30 minutes. I'm sure the Pros could do it much quicker, but I had never changed any fuel filter before!

I did it the right way. I opened the fuel filler cap. Then I disconnected the Fuel Pump Fuse. I started the engine until it stalled. Then I disconnected the fuel filter and connected up the new one. The hardest part was to get the old hoses off.

Awesome!! It's good to see that it wasn't too difficult. I may end up doing this myself. How often are you going to be changing your fuel filter?

I thought someone told me that Subaru says 30K miles. I think it has been about that long, but the car was sputtering, which is what prompted me to change it. The car performs much better now!
