Baja still in limbo |
I wrote to SOA asking if the Baja had ceased production and, if so, on what date. Here is the response I got:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America. We have not made an official announcement of the discontinuation of the Baja model line.
Sincerely,
John J. Mergen Subaru of America Curious, I say. |

I was in contact with them regarding this as well. They said that although they made no indication regarding the discontinuation, they have also made no indication regarding the continuation either. Taking the middle ground. My dealership (service writer) mentioned that they have every indication that this will be the last year.I too will be sorry to see it go, and at the same time disappointed if they decide to continue production, having played games with us enthusiasts all along. |

I just got an oil change at Subaru of Temple. The owner of the dealership commented on this, and he said they stopped production of the Baja because they needed room for production of the B9 Tribeca. |

Subaru should should re-think this because of the latest Consumer Reports(Baja reccommeded several times)and the sport models good MPG. |

An acquaintance of mine who is a dealer has said that this is the last year for the Baja, but that they might introduce a learger small truck in late '07, early '08. |

This is a mistake, but part of the reason I got a Baja was its uncommonality. |

Have been selling Subaru for the past 5 years. Have usually sold 2 Baja's/ month here in Chapel Hill, NC. We have been informed the last Baja's will be sent to us between now and early December, 2006. Want one- drop me a line : joe.oneill@hendrickauto.com |

And now the official announcement has been mailed out. (or at least I got one). Looks like they're handing out rebates for the last of the 2006's. |

I bought the first Baja sold in Colorado in August 2002. Best car I have ever owned. Was going to get another-then I found out they have stopped production. My Baja gets 35-40 mpg and does not look like every other metal box on the road. Would have loved another Baja-but Lexus here I come! |

I loved that article from the guy talking about the ugliest cars ever. Matter of fact, I loved the rest of his articles too. Granted, I happen to LOVE my Baja and don't hate the Element that much either but boy is he right on about MAC owners! :) |
