Manual Swap Question

Post by DisrespectedBaja »

04 Baja Auto. Thought my flywheel bolts were backing out of torque converters n ertwr but actually there are cracks in the plate by the 4 bolts. No better time to do my swap!

I have a pull type trans TY755VB1AA. Seems to be a jdm Forester 2.0l turbo trans. Question is, do I NEED to use the 02-07 wrx pull type clutch kit or is there another option? I.e.-do I need the expensive turbo clutch kit or can I get flywheel, clutch etc from something else? Heck, an 09 outback 5 luck clutch kit is half the price.....

Since it's pull, I'm just going to use an older cable setup so I don't have to worry about bad slave/master cylinders and just carry a cable with me.

Any info greatly appreciated!

Yes, you have to use an 02-05 (not 06+) wrx clutch. I usually do a search on ebay with the part number and their interchanges for different brands such as Exedy, Valeo and Sachs. I can usually find better deals that way, especially if the seller doesn't put in the compatible cars correctly. I've had good luck with all 3 of those brands.
