So I finally did the break-in oil change yesterday and I was quite pleased to find the plastic engine undercover is a much better design than the POS we had on the 98 Forrester.

The hatch fasteners were simple to get out without breaking and only having to pull three of them, instead of a whole bunch plus some bolts like the Forrester was much nicer.

The oil filter was TINY, that freaked me out for a split second. I don't remember the Forrester filter being that small, but it probably was.

I used a punch to pre-drain the filter, then put a plastic bag over it and spun it off into the bag.

All in all it was dead simple.

And it wouldn't have been messy at ALL, if I hadn't been an idiot and knocked over an open bottle of M1 (right onto one of my motorcycle tires too).
