Bought another Brat!
I just made the deal with Neo on his '86 Brat. Needs a paint job :) Going to Paul's to pick it up on Saturday.

$1,500. It's and '86... 4 sp. m/t... been all been fixed mechnically, new exhaust etc. A/C needs the compressor swapped. Has a cap and pugs. No rear seats. I haven't seen it yet other than in pictures. Needs new paint but the body work is done and it's primed. It'll need wetsanding because it's been driven in primer for a while. We'll reprime it in white primer... now to decide the color. World Rally Blue/silver decals or Viper Red/silver decals, Silver/navy decals? The interior is grey, but could change. Any thoughts?

WRBlue + Yellow decals... kind of a nod to the rally cars of the same color scheme.
Just my opinion.
I say keep the grey interior, its rare as far as I know... both my brats are silver outside and blue inside (but exteriors now repainted green for the trail brat and blue for the street brat)

The original color was red... not sure which, Mica or Imperial, I'll need to see the paint code.
WR Blue seems to be the best color. I was playing with the idea of 2-tone... Monterey Silver/Brilliant Silver like the Baja... but I think I want something that screams.
This one will get a lift for sure :) It has pugs already. 66,000 mi. on it, so I'd better love the color!

We picked up the Brat today at Paul's. He filled the bed with bits and pieces and odds an ends that will come in handy for this and my '78.
The interior is tan... the pictures were deceiving... the seats are a grey/blue... they will leave, or be professionally recovered.
I have decided to replace the front fenders and hood with new fiberglass repros. There are a couple of creases, dents I'd rather not mess with and the replacement pieces are under $200.00.
Someone bondoed the sidestep holes... they will be cut out and replaced with sidesteps. The interior, dash, t-tops and cap are all in surprisingly good shape, the rest is easy and cheap to fix.
It seems to have a few quirks as do all Brats, but nothing major is apparent. I can't wait to get started!
All in all it's pretty sound. I seek out a new rear bumper.

Got the paint... Viper Red. Still playing with the decal styles and color.
Tim's '50 gets paint tomorrow. '86 Brat gets primed Sunday? <crossed fingers>
The engine failed in the '78 so that was the priority. Got a used one 49,000 mi. Picked it up today in the Baja. Looked kinda wild... Brat engine nestled in a spare tire bungeed up in the Baja bed. Like a Medi-flight transplant transport.
That's all the news fit to print.

They are hard to find. Keep looking here, e-bay and especially http://www.ultimatesubaru.net I got one from there and another from a friend that I met on there.Ayrton Senna wrote:Where's the best place to buy a BRAT? I don't think eBay has any right now.
