After years of getting worse, I finally took the Baja front seats to an upholstery shop to have them repaired.
This is the driver's seat before. The vinyl was torn all around and the foam in the side bolsters was completely broken down with the metal bar poking through.
Here is it after.
They removed the covers inspected and repaired any part of the frames that were worn or broken, replaced and built up the foam in the cushions and replaced all vinyl panels that needed replacing. they did a great job of matching the vinyl and stitching.
it wasn't cheap, but for $606 out the door for both front seats it is really quite reasonable as I was looking at over $800 if I ordered new parts from Subaru (and there are only a few left) and then I still would have had to do it myself.
Finally got my seats fixed.

very nice.
I cheated and put seat covers over mine to hide the torn bolster.
I bet your seats are a lot more supportive now, especially after you've "broken them in".

Very nicely done. That's a little cheaper than getting Katzkins or something like it put in, and you get to keep the "Baja" logo.

Re: Finally got my seats fixed.
Hello there,
I realize this is and old thread but I'm hoping OP or someone else who's had this issue with their Baja's driver seat can tell me which vinyl (brand) is the closest match. I need to reupholster mine before I start wearing out the foam.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Those new seats look beautiful. I am totally going to get that done. And yes, I like the idea of getting to keep the Baja logo.

I wonder if Subaru still sells replacement cushion assemblies....
