Which seats are a direct swap into the Baja?

Post by thenewrick »

I was looking at swapping some Subaru leather seats into my cloth/vinyl Baja. I was wondering which models and years were an easy direct swap into a Baja with manual adjust non-heated cloth/vinyl seats.

If you are talking front seats a better question is which ones do not fit.
Pretty much anything from the 90s to late 2000s will bolt in just fine. Personally, I have always loved the 06-07 leather wrx seats.
I like it here.... [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

It is tough to find decent seats from the junkyard. My other concern is that legacy/outback/impreza seats are different heights when bolted in. I am tall and can't spare anymore headroom if I go with a taller seat over the stock baja seat. Anyone have experience with different seat ride heights?

I've found some seats but theyre 2004 Legacy Outback LL Bean heated/electronic control seats. My Baja has the nonheated manual seats. Can I still swap them in easily? Any chance of a DIY tutorial on how this might be done? Much thanks

Currently I have 99 legacy outback seats in mine, soon swapping in some from an 03 wrx.

Is there anywhere else to look besides junkyard and craigslist to find wrx or other decent seats. I have yet to find a wrecked or salvaged wrx scavaging a 2 hr radius.

My outback seats came from a salvage yard, $80 for the pair shipped to my door. The wrx seats are coming from one of the members in our Subaru club that's parting a bugeye. So check with your local club.

Were the outback seats overall better than the baja seats? Do you remember if the outback seatseats sat any taller than stock baja seats? Im tall and dont have any headroom to spare if they sit higher...

Well, not cheap, but the Recaro Expert M seats fit great. An inch or two lower seating position and, unlike the stock seats, they don't kill my back after 20 minutes. Six hour trips are now a pleasure.

Are the pull-a-part yards that far from you?

Anything decent gets scavanged immediately...and I have yet to find a wrx at a you-pull-it yard.
there are several junkyards around but everything is 10 plus years old.

Impreza seats sit a lot higher 2-3" in fact than the stock baja seats. Hope you are short. :?
