Head Gasket or Oil pan leak
Just took my Baja over to the local dealer here for an oil change. They told me that there was a small leak near the oil pan and it could be head gaskets or the oil pan.

Re: Head Gasket Failure
Mine started to leak as well and our local Subaru dealership dropped the repair price and I have a 2003. I went somewhere else anyway to get it done because I found another company who beat Subaru's 'discounted' price. PRICE WARS!!
Sadly, the leaking gaskets does seem to be a common problem but once replaced, they should last a while. Supposedly, they fixed or upgraded the gaskets.

Re: Head Gasket Failure
It seems to be a common issue with the '03 models. I had it happen on my previous '03, but my mechanical breakdown insurance was a big help, only paid my deductable of $250 for a job that was quoted at $2200. Keeping a close eye on my current '03, because it could happen again.

Does it seem to be less of a problem with the 04, 05, 06 models?
