Stiffer springs for `04 Baja T

Post by moonzie »

Rallitek used to sell stiffer springs for the `04-`06 Baja models but lack of demand caused them to drop the product. Talked with Sean over the phone and he was really helpful with a few suggestions but nothing proven.

The Baja rear springs are linear. Heavier duty than the `00-`04 Outbacks. I've heard of those MY Outback owners go with Baja springs to get stiffer rides.

Sean suggested going with some rubber spring spacers that can be inserted into either the stock Baja spring or could be used in combination with the Rallitek Legacy Spec-b upgrade. Those springs are progressive. Un-loaded the Rallitek Legacy-spec b springs are about 3" shorter than the Rallitek Baja springs (that they no longer have)

Suggestions? Thoughts?

Maybe we should try and Start a group buy for even stiffer rear springs specifically for the Baja?

I believe it was mentioned somewhere by Rallitek over at NASIOC that if we can get 20-25 people committed they'd do another run of them. I'd definitly be all about it - going to have to replace my shocks/struts sometime next year for sure.

Whats the deal with the rubber spring spacers? How much is that option, I'm gonna upgrade my suspension from the '03 sometime but I really want stiffer rear springs for deer season.

Probably not much, the thing is - I can't see why you would want to insert some rubber spacers into the stock Baja spring. I don't think it would stiffen the rear end up much, only reduce the amount of travel the suspension has.

After having slept I'd say that the only two options are 1) Take a Rallitek Legacy spec-b spring set, insert rubber spacers and pray you don't loose ride height/handling or 2) Rally the troops and get enough people to commit to a large group buy for some aftermarket springs specifically designed for the Baja. :|

Then there are always King Springs that you can get through Primative but I already have my Rallitek Skidplate and wanted Rallitek Springs. But in the end what ever gets the Job done. We should try and get a group package buy going.

I need to work on mine as well. I tried out some Autocross with the Baja and it handled great but it had a lot of lean. I'm still new to Autocross but I was thinking less lean = better handling around cones. I have no idea though. If stiffer springs would work better in this situation then I'm all for it!

Hmmm, except I also want a higher ride height.
