car rack clamp Subaru Item# E361SXA100

I am considering using this item to clamp my aluminum canoe rack on top of my Baha. Canoe plus rack will weigh in at 85#. Is there anyone out there who has purchased this item? Does it have enough strength to keep rack from shifting? I will be strapping canoe to with appropiate ratchet tie downs as well.
