hello i am new to this forum. i also am new to the world of Subaru i really do not know much about them. i just got a 2003 Baja and love it how ever i find it slow. i used to own a 1993 Nissan Altima with mods. i drove it in to the ground. i loved that car but it was time i had it for more then 10 years. my question is about engines is it possible to put a WRX engine in to a Baja with out any mods. i hope this does not sound dumb. sorry for the newbie question but i search and i got allot of people saying different things . i would also like to know what is the name of the engine in my Baja its a 2003 i know that there was no turbo model that year. i feel very lost and hope to learn allot on this forum.

It is very possible, there should not be any problems. As a matter of fact, one of my Baja's has a modified STi engine. [smilie=666.gif] And I beliefe that the '03 engine is an EJ25.

you really need to ditch that baja and get a baja turbo. All the work is done for you and you automatically get the best of the wrx engines in it from the factory.

If you want to do a swap I suggest a an EJ255 or 257. The EJ20 of older WRXs is weak for such a heavy car. you will have the great joy of swapping out the entire front crossmember as you have the non turbo crossmember in there now. Then rewiring everything. It can be done, but why not just trade up for a turbo model?
