RPM @ 80 mph; Baja vs. new Forester

Post by bnther36 »

The wife and I test drove the new 2009 Forester and I was amazed at the RPM difference at 80 mph. My 5-speed Baja always sounded like the motor was going to explode at 80mph. The Forester cruised along nicely. This really irritates me! Part of the reason I sold the Baja was because of its performance on the highway, (where I do most of my driving).

In retrospect, I really regret selling the Baja. I think that I would have been happier in the long run dropping a different transmission in the little truck. At the time, it just didn't make sense putting the money into a different transmission on a car that I only owned for a little bit. I miss the utility of the small bed, I really miss the way the car rode and the interior that seemed to fit me perfectly and most of all I miss how the little truck flew past Jeeps in 5 inches of snow.

I should have kept it.

Sorry Bnther...but...YEAH, the Baja is soooo much fun in the snow. I was taking my mom to work winter last year, since the Baja has no issues in the snow and took a side trip..*ahem*..to the mall! It was the perfect place to get some nice doughnuts in. After that, I took my mom to work. I think I made her a little dizzy from the circles.
My dad always teases me about being a teenage boy which is funny since I'm a 29 year old girl. I can't help it if I like modifying and playing with the Baja. [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]
