Looks like a 2003 Sport, like mine. We have single bulbs. There should have been a supplemental Owner's Manual insert with your regular manual that explains the bulb situation and how to change them, etc.. If you didn't get one, let me know and I will look up the bulb # for you - it's a common one I know and easy to change. No worries....

Lame. HID kits are so much easier to install in split headlights situations. I wonder how easy it would be to install the split headlights?! Prolly wouldnt be that bad.........

Those are the standard headlights. I believe the turbo models as well as the "classic" models has has the split headlights with the separate high and low beam.

and about HIDs, I have a HID low beam installed in my turbo, I retained the Halogen low beams. I guess I could do a whole retrofit to get a switchable High/Low HID setup but most the time just the low beams are on, so its not really worth the cost or trouble to me.

Well thats what im saying, i believe Ive read that some of the HID kits that replace bulbs that have both high and low beams in them, only give you a HID low beam, and then you lose your high beam all together, or its just the same beam as the low beam. It makes since since its just a filiment in a reg bulb. Do the DRL's affect your HID's? I thought I read since its a lower voltage that runs the DRL's it can burn out your HID's faster.........

If you were to replace your bulbs with a regular HID conversion kit, you would lose high beam. because you only have 1 bulb with 2 filaments. You have to do a full retrofit that has a solenoid to physically move the shield up or down to get low/ High beam. Those are MUCH more expensive and complicated.

In my case, I have the split headlights where the lowbeam is upper part and is always on when the headlights are on. When you turn the high beams on, the lower section lights up in addition to the low beams. I replaced just the low beam (upper half) with HID. So I always have the HID low beams on when the headlights are on. Then I have HID and Halogen when I turn the high beams on.

As far as DRLs... yes you need to disable them for the HID. I had already done this long before I did the HIDs. It just requires unplugging the module under the dash. If you do not, the ballasts can be damaged and the lights will flicker on and off or fail to ignite completely if they do not get proper voltage.

Yeah thats exactly what I was talking about. I had the same problem in my old car. Now i need to figure out how hard it would be to do the headlight conversion. Also, how did you go about disabling your DRL's? What it a simple unplug? I dont want to mess with the hand brake sensor cuz it sounds like some braking aspects might be messed up. A module under the dash sounds a lot safer....

Yeah there is a black box under the dash (at least on the 2005s) and you just unplug the harness from it. Nothing else is effected. Just no more DRLs.

does anyone have a pic of that black box, or a detailed location? Does it say anything on the box? I really want to do this ASAP.

TIA
