There and back again (wait, that was already used)

I left out about 8:30 on Wednesday, July 4th from Sugar Hill, Ga. I only saw 2 Baja’s on the way up to West Virginia, I think in North and South Carolina. I saw one on the way back, again in either North or South Carolina. There were several Subaru's in West Virginia, mostly Outback's and Forester’s. Around here we have a lot of WRX’s and Forester’s, very few Baja’s.

On the trip up I got 29.4 MPG, windows and sun-roof open.
In West Virginia I got 26.88 MPG (this is about what I normally get in mixed driving).
On the return trip I got 29.32 MPG, windows, sun-roof and pass-thru open.

So, this trip put me just over 60,000 miles. I am still on the original clutch, tires and brakes. I have used synthetic motor oil since about the 3rd change. I have drained and replaced the diff and trans oil (conventional oil in these). I have replaced the air filter 3 or 4 times, the wipers once and the fuel filter once. I rotate my tires regularly.

The slash guard under the engine is broken and now removed (it didn't make a very good skid plate).

I am very happy with my decision to purchase the cruck 3 1/2 years ago. With proper care, I don't see why this shouldn't give many years of good service.

Wow. I can manage 28 MPG if I go 65 MPH. How'd you manage to get almost 30?

Slow starts and anticipate your breaking.

...works for me, at least.

Yep! Don't drive it like ya hate it
I don't use cruise, do anywhere from speed limit to 10 over the speed limit, am easy on the clutch and keep up on all maintenance (including tire pressure - low pressure will suck down your mileage). Anticipate hills so that you don't have to strain the engine or brakes. Also, the N/A gets better mileage than the Turbo model.

Mixed driving outside of Atlanta I get 26-27.

I am rather easy on the vehicle, and I coast...A LOT! On my regular commute (40 miles each way) I'm usually on cruise but I can coast for a few miles at either end. I have a OzzBro's bed cover (which is rather heavy) and have left the roof rails on. Tires are inflated properly. I guess I'll have to try harder!

Unless it's pretty much flat and no traffic, I think cruise cost mileage.
