I noticed when shopping around for my baja that most the dealers over fulled the oil on it. Its says in the book 4.2 qts and they put in 5 or sometimes even 6
I just thought I would tell you that if you take it to someone to get it done or just got yours and didn't look
FYI On the oil change

Back in high school when I drove my moms 96 OBS I took it in for its 6000 mile oil change... they overfilled it WAY past the little tick mark (thats above full) I told em to take it back in and do it right. This was at the Subaru dealer!
They fixed it and even washed the car
They arent touching my Baja though... EVER

Just did mine - 4.2quarts is right
I just changed the oil in my 2006 Turbo. 5 full quarts would really have missed the mark! 4.2 is quite correct.

Re: FYI On the oil change
Sorry to revive an old post, but this answered an observation I have had since I got my Baja a couple months back. I checked the oil level in mine and it is WAAAAAY past the full mark. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. For now on, I'll do my own oil changes!!

Our dipstick sucks to read.
It scrapes so much oil on the way in you may get a false reading.
I clean it off, go in, fully seat it, pull out pretty quick and use the lower of the two levels.
