a good set of snows can make up for mediocre automobile engineering, to a point; the same can be said for the awd. put them both together, and you have a winning combination! (assuming you know how to drive :P ) the last time i drove in anything yucky it was on the stocker potenza re92's, which i dont have much respect for, but they got me through all right...

I finally wore out the Potenzas, and now have a set of BF Goodrich tires on. Cant remember what kind though. Goes pretty good in the snow/slop. Rides alot better too, must have a softer compound. Mike

Mike,
Do you have the BF Goodrich Traction T/A's? That's what I got and they are awesome in the snow. I have to travel over a mountain everyday, and in the winter these tires get me to the other side without any problems. I just don't understand that they give you a 65.000 mile warranty if they don't even last that long. [smilie=meh.gif]

Hi EB, no, they are not Traction T/A, one step under that. They don't have the directional tread. Still alot better than the Potenzas though. I think they are Traction Plus, something like that. I looked tonite at them, and forgot what they were already. Must be gettin senile or somethin like that. Mike

Yup, pretty soon it will be time to play in the white stuff. Can't wait for it. So much fun. Mike

I know-and we finally got new tires (after 46k, the re92's were WORN OUT), so we can actually have fun this year again!! The tread pattern on the g009's looks like it will be good in the snow...hopefully all the "truck trails" we found south of us won't be closed for the winter!

We had few inches here a while back, my Baja went like a scalded cat. Some poor bastard in a new Jeep Wrangler thought that he would race me at a stop light. I spanked his ass by 3 full car lengths and still managed to stop before he did. I can understand now how these rally guys do it.

Yup, the traction of the little beast is great, it always pulls great in the snow. We have not had any in awhile, got 13 inches of the fun stuff a few weeks ago, but all gone now. Darn. It was fun while it lasted though. Mike

We just had our second real snowfall here in PA since I got the Baja and I'm still amazed out how sure-footed she is, even on STOCK rubber.

I've driven on SLICK roads with her now, both snow and ice and she is rarely ever upset at all by conditions. YES, if I push her I get a little rear end slide, and YES she goes into ABS pretty easily when it is very bad out. But still, I have to remember to slow down and brake check once in a while just to tell myself how bad the conditions are, cause I won't know from wheel-spin (or I should say, lack thereof).

Yesterday I pulled up next to this minivan which was on a hill with the reverse lights on and 4-ways going. Turns out she couldn't get up the snow covered hill and was backing down.

Me, sitting next to her in the Baja at a complete stop. When I realized she didn't need any help I dumped the clutch and pulled away up hill with just the slightest bit of wheel spin.

Further uphill and around a bend I found 2 guys attempting to push a minivan up the same hill. I went around them, parked on a side street and walked down to them where I helped them push. We had a real tough time keeping tracking while pushing and the van's front tires were just spinning and spinning, but she inched her way up the hill. Then I hopped back into the Baja and, again no problem, drove away uphill past where they'd turned off to get to their house.

This kind of story repeats itself. Passed someone else who'd slid their 4x4 ute off-road into someone's yard, smacked a tree THEN drove across half their yard and over some bushes trying to get away

We didn't have a single problem.

Life is good,

Kev

And that's why we like the Baja so much.
