I have a scanner but nothing for ABS has ever popped up, just a 420 code :/

Booo.... Might also be worth checking the handbrake switch to make sure it's not stuck on. Continuity check on the switch when it's unplugged, and voltage check when the car's on. Same with the brake fluid level switch.

I'd think if the ABS had an issue it would trigger the ABS warning light, not the parking brake light, but alternator triggers the brake light, so anything is possible.
This is golden info! I was beginning to wonder if it was something this simple! I'll look into this.

Uhhhh.....eh?!

Does the light turn off if the wire is disconnected from the chassis? If so, was that light on the whole time you had the truck, then? There should be a connector on the end that would go into the switch; is that gone, too?

I'm not aware of any differences in the hand brake setup between Baja years...

Just had clutch and head gaskets done. These lights are coming on sporadically for me now.

Found loose connection on alternator - the main connection to the fuse/battery positive. Cleaned and tightened, and both lights went away.

I just installed a new switch after work today, and for the first time since I've owned it I can actually turn the brake light on and off at will.

It did! that's how I found out it was a brake wire, I kept touching it to the chassis while investigating and everytime it touched the metal body the light came back on. once I looked back at the pictures of the brake switch I realized that it was just gone! There's a little nub for the switch to rest on, and that was there, which means someone at some point just removed it and just attached the wire to the chassis. The guy I bought it from claimed to be a mechanic, and that the brake light was a head scratcher for him, guess he didn't know about that little button!
