Orange County, CA here. 06 Sport. I make a ton of trips to the mountains and go camping everywhere so maybe we can do a scooby truck camp meet sometime

Hi all,

I just moved to the Santa Clara/San Jose area from Toronto, Canada -- brought my 2003 Baja with me -- and 8400km and a bunch of spirited driving later (Tail of the Dragon, Pikes Peak, etc.), I might need to get a few things done.

Does anyone know a good mechanic in the SF Bay Area? Initially, it's just relatively small stuff, like brakes and suspension maintenance, but eventually I'd like to go the performance route.

Thanks!

San Francisco w/ a 2003 @ 212661mi (previous commuter)
I'm wondering where I should to take her for service in the bay area...?
I want to upgrade her suspension...seems bouncy in the rear.
What's the best value suspension upgrade option for her?
I found this???

I did notice when going from reverse to drive, there is a little bit of a delay getting fully into gear...is this normal?
What else (preventatively) should I be looking for...to keep her humming?

When I first arrived, I went to a mechanic at N Mathilda Ave and W Maude Ave, in the Valero gas station. He seemed pretty good, and didn't have any problems with him. Yelp reviews seemed good too. He is one of only two mechanics I've brought my Baja to where there wasn't something else broken after the service.

Since then I've done everything myself, including the rear shocks. KYB makes an OE replacement which seems good and is reasonably priced. I have a couple posts on here showing what I've done for shocks/springs (nothing fancy or expensive). Others have gone with more elaborate setups. Of course, "best value upgrade" depends on what you're trying to improve: comfort, handling, off-roading, style, etc.

Oh, also your photos aren't showing. Looks like you copied-and-pasted your personal Google Photos link instead of the publicly-accessible one. Why not upload straight to this site, so future generations don't need to deal with broken links when Google Photos changes to Bing RealWorld and all URLs are changed?
