Welded a little truck bed extender in the back so i could fit my Timbersled in the bed. You just open the back door up and put the ski through then she fits great. Took it on a 3 hour trips to go ride and the baja did great on the freeway.

More goodies! I found this guy on eBay with sport light switches for sale. Asked for some custom switches and he cranked them out over night and shipped them to me.

Finally put together some Sport Lights. I went with more aerodynamic LEDs, mounted under the crossbar with the wiring inside. I wanted them mounted under so I could still use the crossbar without having to mess with the lights. Not wanting to drill my original crossbars, I got some donors from an 05 Forrester in a yard, along with some relays. One crossbar was the correct size for the front, the other I cut down, drilled and tapped for the rear. I used the original sport lamp wiring with the switch from the ebay guy. The dummy plug from the connection in the center brake light was the fun stuff. Finding terminals to fit the dummy plug and make it functional was the hardest part. I grounded the yellow wire from the switch to eliminate the ebrake one click trick and everything functions beautifully. Thanks to a bunch of helpful previous posts from other users, I was confident I could get it done. Thanks guys!

Gave my Baja some much needed TLC several weekends ago. Most notably was replacing the pitch stop. Completely solved the "lurching" feeling from the engine and the old one didn't even look that bad. Also put in a short shift lever and replace all of the bushings. Still have a ton of slop because I couldn't get the shift joint out so that's high on the list of things to do. Other than that, greased the clutch fork, replaced the missing splash guard under the front end, added a 3D-printed gas cap lanyard, and installed various clips here and there that were missing.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I have a bolt and plastic piece in my "Subaru Parts Bin" but can't recognize where they would go on the vehicle. Anyone know what they are or if they wound up in there accidentally? The penny and screwdriver are just for scale.

My '06 is rusting out on the bottom. Found a replacement chassis and had it shipped up from Virginia. Minimal amount of rust. The engine has seen much better days, with what looks like external oil and coolant leaks from the headgaskets on both sides. I'm off on a two week vacation starting Monday, and if the rain holds off, I'll be doing a lot of work on her, mostly swapping bits from the old Baja to the new. Planning on parking the old Baja out back of the house and throwing a tarp over her. She will live on in other Bajas.

In the meanwhile... I took a drive over to Springfield MA a couple weekends ago. Scored a couple of LL Bean leather seats out of an '04 OBW, though they're tan. The owner of the wagon let me pull the heated side mirrors (red) as well as all the switches related to them and the heated seats. Wouldn't let me leave without taking a Whiteline 22mm rear anti-sway bar, too.

Took the mirrors out to the front yard around lunch today. Gave both several coats of rattle can black matte Rustoleum. Gonna let them sit for a couple days, then spray clear coat (satin) over them. No pics of them yet; they're nothing special.

Since the last update... Pulled the leaky engine out of the new Baja. Pulled the non-leaky engine out of the old Baja and dropped it into the new Baja. Dropped off the y-pipe and cat with a local exhaust shop, to weld a new bung on (busted it removing the old O2 sensor). Moved the tires over. Fixed the loose boot and replaced the clamp on the outer CV joint, passenger side front axle. Replaced the passenger front door lock actuator. Moved all four wheels to the new Baja. Moved the neutral safety switch from the old transmission to the new (faulty on the new). Also moved all four speakers, the audio deck, and the backup cam to the new Baja. Installed the dash cams.

Made a rear spoiler/ cargo extender for plywood sheathing and such. Just two knobs to unscrew for removal. Cargo area of the bed mostly unaffected. Works great and looks sporty though I generally remove it when not needed.

Finally pulled the band aid off. Took the spare tire and holder off. Muffler, charcoal canister gone. Loosened the subframe bolts. Tomorrow i will finish taking the fuel lines off and probably filler neck. All that to cut out, make and weld in the rusted crossmember. I will jack it up a bit higher so i can sit up straight and probably lower the subframe for a little extra room. Im glad i have my 06 to compare it to lol.

Finally made some progress on a rear subframe removal as well. Broke both the front bolts, but got it removed and in the process of drilling out the drivers side. Passenger's side has more bolt left, so I'm hoping to be able to eventually get it unstuck.

Trying to find a place in town to blast and prep the frame and some suspension components to try and stop the rust, then it's re-assembly (the fun part!).

- And yes, I do see the damage to the brake line Got a little tight with the angle grinder flattening out the bolt stub ... that might be the next project.

I didnt break any bolts. I did manage to damage threads on 2 of them. Bought a tap this morning from the tool guy. Got threads fixed on 1. Tomorrow i will try to get the crossmember welded in and then drop the subframe so i can run the tap in the other hole and then put my lift on.

I finally got everything put back together today. Even managed to get the lift installed on the back. Monday i have to pull the driveshaft and see if that is the cause of the shutter i feel when i drive. Then i will put the front strut spacers in.

That rust looks really familiar. Just picked up my first Subaru last weekend (2005 Baja Turbo). About all that is really rusted is that one frame crossmember and the bumper braces. Unfortunately, it also seems to need a clutch, as it started slipping on the drive home.
