I've been getting an O2 sensor CEL for a while and opted to change it out. Ordered the a denso one.

I took it off yesterday because the part was supposed to come today. Took me a while because the stupid thing wouldn't come out. I saw the Amazon guy walk by and was too busy to say something, thats how busy I was.

Finally got it off, lowered the car, shut the garage down and I finally open whatever the Amazon guy had dropped of...it was the sensor

Picked up another Outback with heated seats and mirrors. Going in my sons 03 Baja next time he comes down. I need to pull the heating elements out of the seats still and get the mirrors painted to match his car.

I installed a powered subwoofer between my back seats, and now I smile every time the bass drops. The best part about this install location is it puts the subwoofer between the front seats when the seat is folded up, which helps cancel road noise when the pass-through is open.

I also installed sound deadening mats under the rear seat foam, to eliminate resonance rattles, which was an annoying problem at first. We're good now, though.

Install Details:

I have an aftermarket Pioneer headunit without an external amp, and I'd have needed to disable my rear speakers to use it's LFE subwoofer RCA outputs. Instead, I tapped the rear doors' speaker wire, routed through each door's wire loom/tube into the B pillars, and along the floor trim to the under seat area. The subwoofer has high level inputs, which means it can tap a left and right speaker signal without drawing much power. Fade function still works, but it also affects the subwoofer volume, which was unintended. Who needs fade, though?

The sub is powered from the car battery, which I passed through the firewall into the driver footwell, then under the middle console trim, and then along the carpet next to the middle "bump" in the back seat. I never have rear passengers, so I am comfortable with this external / exposed wire, although I did protect it with the wire housing.

The sub has an external gain knob adjuster, which uses a phone cable to connect back to the sub. I screwed it to that weird empty door on the back of the front console, and ran the wire in the same housing as the power cable, back to the sub.

I grounded the sub to the screw that holds the latch that holds down the rear seat, the one affiliated with the grey strap you pull to raise the seat. I removed the latch, then blitzed the paint around the screw post with a spiny metal wire drill bit to get to bare metal. I attached the ground, and re-installed the latch, which provides some protection to the now bare metal.

I fabricated a wooden plank that mounts to the rear middle console mounts. The subwoofer is attached to the plank, and it all nests in with exactly the right side to side width. The subwoofer's length was too short to completely replace the console, so I chose to retain the cup holders so it didn't look stupid. I used a hacksaw to remove the cupholders from that weird hatch portion of the console, sorry if this offends any Baja stock purists. Theres' a useful void under the cup holder mount for all the wire harness connections, easily serviceable by removing the cup holders. There is a bit of a gap at the back of the cup holders, but you can only see it if are in the back seat. I filled it with some flexible rubber seal thing I had laying around. I think a leather or vinyl cushion would work really well instead of the cupholders, but that is for a future project.

It's been a big week for my Baja- She got some 15x7 wheels, 1" Gorilla lift kit, AT Tires, and I built a bed rack to carry three bikes!!!

Finished assembling my Baja's new transmission. Replaced the front and center diffs, as well as changed 5th gear to a really tall WRX one.

For sure! Best of all, this can be done in a home garage with a harbor freight press and harbor freight bearing splitter, and strong photo-taking skills to see what goes back where

I saw the split tranny and got excited because I thought someone was doing a "JDM hi-low" conversion. A tranny rebuild is still worth watching, and add the tall final gear...
I thought about the tall gear thing, but am afraid it might affect trailer towing. Dennis
