Looking for stiffer shocks

Post by jmbreland »

I have Rallitek rear overload springs installed over OEM shocks and the 20% stiffer springs have proven to be a bit much for the shocks so the rear end is quite bouncy. Wondering if there’s any shock out there, off other vehicles perhaps, that would work on the ‘03 Baja with the Rallitek springs. I have heard of the TACO set up but I’m not really a fan of lifting the Baja.

I have 04-06 Baja turbo springs on my 03. Works good without being too stiff.

04-06 Baja springs would be stiffer on 03 because of their being compressed more on the shorter 03 strut?

Yes, but not as stiff as aftermarket springs.

How many miles on the struts? Have you considered they're just worn out?

I have kings on my 03 with KYB struts (for the 03) which were fine other than my overloading (as in 800lb safe in the bed among other abuses) them a few times causing them to wear prematurely.

FYI the taco strut uses the taco springs as well.
