Just picked up a 2005 Baja with 79k miles. Engine issue forced the PO (and original owner) to store it in the garage for 5 years. The attached pic is just after we picked it up. Close friend will mentor me on the engine repairs needed. This thing is clean!

The Baja sat for a few months waiting for time/money to free up. Engine is about ready to install.

Combination of oil quality/maintenance is the theory - Based on the inspection of the old engine.

Baja is back on the road and is quite an impressive vehicle.

Nice Baja,
I'm around the same area also,
So far i have counted 3 different Bajas so far ( not including yours).
But ill keep my eyes open.
