Possible new Baja Owner!

Post by devilzdriver »

Hey guys,

So I have always loved the Baja! Its a neat car. I live in Hawai'i and have recently come across one that is a 2004 Sport. It has about 130k on it. The car is a family car apparently its been passed around the family. Now here are some pros i have noticed, it has had its headgaskets replaced, timingbelt and components all replaced so thats another plus. Now I am new to Bajas but not subarus. They want 6200$ for it. Is that a good deal? What are some things to look for that might help my negotiations. I really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Brief history of my Subarus

1992 Legacy Sports Sedan 305k
1999 Legacy L 30th Anniversary 75k (2nd Owner)
2007 Outback 2.5i 125k Offroad built
2003 WRX Insane RallyX car

That's a good deal if it has no rust and a clean title! Really depends on the condition. Blue book at that mileage is $6521 in fair condition. http://www.kbb.com/subaru/baja/2004-sub ... age=130000

I am looking at it on saturday. I did look up KBB, and its a low price. For Bajas where are common rust spots? I assume wheel / bumper connections. Anything that breaks commonly?

Rust is only common in places where they use road salt (probably not Hawaii). Rust becomes visible in the rear door jams. Make sure the transmission is solid, if it's a 2003, the headgaskets go. Turbos: if it's around 100k find out if the big service has been done.
