Intercooler fins bent closed - Advise

Not sure if I'm in the right place BUT
Just bout a 2005 Baja 88K mikes - I think its all stock
I was looking at the intercooler and it seems that the fins on the top are all bent and close shut. Is that normal and should I try to open them ?

They should be open. Can you post a pic ? Fin straighteners are readily available. What percent of them are bent?

Looks like most of them are closed

I got the pics. Those definitely need to be straightened. I would get a fin straightener and give it a try. If that won't work then you should replace the intercooler. You should be able to find a used one fairly easily.

I tried opening them with an exacto knife / razor but like I said they are awfully thin and bend real easy like. I'm not sure if I'm making it better or worse

They should bend back to shape at least once. It's a slow meticulous process.
