strange sound from .....

last week we had a new radiator fitted by a main Subaru dealer in Michigan, after getting the car back from them we drove home only to notice a whine from what sounds like the steering pump (but I could be wrong) each time the car revs on the throttle this whine happens. I did call them and I am dropping it back Monday night so they get a cold car Tuesday morning as it seems worse when its a cold engine.but the sound does get much quieter as the car warms. could the new rad and this noise have a connection. do they have to interfere with anything like that pulling the old rad ? I know the transmission is cooled through the bottom of it so could it be that ?

Any ideas good or bad taken !

we took it in to the dealer and its the pump.76k and the pump has gone......main dealer price ?!?!?!?!?! $1100......local workshop......$350

have the timing belt and rollers done at the same time. It requires work in the same area with the timing belt off anyway. shame not too...good deal by the way!

I think he is having the power steering pump done, not the water pump....

i could try it I suppose for the sake of $12 fluid but the dealer said the pump is the issue but it does seem low mileage for it to fail

Unbelievable...I just had my radiator replaced and the exact same thing is happening with my 2006 Baja Turbo. It sounds terrible in the morning and when it warms up, really quiets down. I guess I'll be ordering a new power steering pump and getting mine swapped out. Plan to do it myself, instead of putting it in a shop.
