Hey all, the brake warning light on my instrument panel is starting to light up now and then. It can and will turn on and off several times during a ride. Not a regular blinking, and sometimes never at all...
What does this light indicate? Is it simply an Ebrake warning light, or are the regular brakes involved? The brakes themselves feel fine, the fluid level is ok, and my Ebrake is not engaged.
Check for your brake fluid being low...if it is top it off and then find out why its low...could just be your brakes are wearing down...as your pads wear down it requires more fluid to move your calipers out to compensate..the sensor in the master cylinder could also be faulty
There are two switches that will trigger that light. One is on the parking brake handle. The other is to sense the fluid is the reservoir.
If the switch on the handle is faulty, it will also turn off the daytime running lights and cancel the cruise control.
If the fluid is good in the reservoir, it could be that the float is sticking? If you look down in the fluid, you should see a little foam float that should bob up and down freely.
Thx guys, I opened up the master cylinder and added some fluid. It took more than I expected, and the light did indeed turn off and stopped flickering... Now to find what caused the low fluid. I haven't changed the fronts in a while, so I suspect they may be low, although I just had the state inspection done on it last week and they are supposed to check that!

THIS!
Unless there is a leak, It's always the pads worn and piston traveling farther.
