Brakes and Rotors

Post by OkeefenokeeJoe »

Sorry if this issue has been beat to death. I actually did a "Search" and didn't see anything that went into a great deal of detail regarding brakes and rotors.

My situation .....

I own a 2003 Subaru Baja that currently has 161,000 miles on the clock. I am the original owner ... purchased new in July 2003 when the rest of the world had no idea what a Baja was. I vividly recall one lady exclaiming, "Look Honey, it's the new El Camino." Surprisingly, I occasionally still get such comments.

I am currently shopping for new rotors and have read so much that now I'm confused. I have almost decided; however, to purchase Brembo OE Replacement Rotors for the front and BrembosOE Replacement discs for the rear. I already have a front and rear set of Akebono ceramic pads that I purchased earlier this year.

Is this good? .... or not? .... Your input is certainly appreciated.

I know this sounds scary but I always buy cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads for my subies. I find great deals on ebay and they hold up surprisingly well. My 05 STI has 30k miles on a set of cross drilled rotors I bought on ebay years ago for 250 shipped (all 4 rotors and pads).

I recently purchased these and will be installing them this weekend if they get here on time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320814518712?ss ... 2072wt_800
