Mud flaps

Post by homandesigns »

I picked an '05 Baja last week and have already noticed quite a bit of grime coming from the wheels. It doesn't have mud flaps so I though I install some. Looking at the OEM photos of the Subaru mud flaps, they look small (but I haven't seen any up close).

Do you suggest to purchase the OEM version or buy another universal mud flap that may be bigger. If so, what brand, do you recommend?

Shouldn't be a problem. I found them without trouble on the net. Just do a search. Should cost $60 to $75 per set of 4. the factory ones are the best, they are hard plastic, but the fit is great.

Also, I have a silver Baja. But there were two silver colors over the years, but either one would look great on the car. they really do keep the crap off the rockers.

Or if you are crafty. You could make a set of flaps out of 1/8" high density polyurethane. I had a set off my 04 WRX that seem to match up for hole alignment quite well. They are a bit short because I had cut them shorter when the WRX was lowered. When the weather warms up I'll probably use them as a stencil and make a long set and probably a slight bit wider due to the difference in body style between the impreza and legacy/baja body style. The HDP route is a lil bit more in cost but they are far more rugged then the plastic ones you'll get from the OEM setup. I also had a set on my 00 RS way back when and I know the product was tough. Backed up over a large rut in the road and pulled the whole rear bumper off :). * partially because I made the flaps longer then I probably should have*

Just another idea for your mud flap researching :)

Good luck

I was able to find an old set from a late model Ford Ranger, so they're nice and big, and I was able to make em fit with some creative work.
