Cold Air Intake Install

Post by peiboy »

I finally got my Cold Air intake installed.

Here is a tutorial on how to do it on an 03 "Classic"

http://picasaweb.google.com/jonathan.ma ... akeInstall

I am really impressed with it - it only cost me $35

It took some minor modification to get it in, but it was worth it.

So far (after I got over the thrill of coming onto it to hear the sound and feel the kick) my mileage increased from 25 to 27 mpg.

Plus it really gives you a kick (not a turbo kick, but a gentle shove).

Go drop the money and put one in, it is EASY.

Thanks for the tutorial. It will make it a lot easier for others to figure out how to do it.

Here is a question though, How much of a cold air intake is it, if it is located in the engine bay? Eventhough there is a lot of fresh air coming in, there is also a lot of hot air from the engine. Any thoughts?

Well, I actually have to admit that it is not a true "Cold Air Intake" - but it is a lot more easy to get air down than that plastic contraption that Subaru provides - which was my goal. There is a port right beside the intake that I may be able to use to get cold air, but I have not really messed with that yet (it has been too damn cold and wet to bother)

I got to say, the car has some balls since I have put it on - and it is LOUD when you come onto it - It actually scares people (kinda funny actually)

I am glad you liked the tutorial
