I don’t know how much the radiator was. I pulled it from an overdone outback XT. I suspect it was around $300+/-.
Yeah, pulling the dash was rough. I found my whole support assembly covered in fine rust. (Attache is the graphic visual for folks that haven’t torn into their car yet. The bottom photo was at the point I discovered I had to take the dang heater core back off the firewall again.)
Oh! And don’t lose the fat plastic disc/cap that came off the carpet under the accelerator pedal. If that’s missing and you floor the pedal, you will trip an engine code for position sensor high. -limp mode...boo. I’ve done it a couple times when the boost was all there and ready for smiles... Yeah, don’t lose that cap.

Also, since you already considering a FMIC, have you ruled out an additional front-mounted radiator dedicated to an air to water intercooler and keep the volume of airspace between turbine and throttle body low? (Add yet another gauge for those with the fetish - “intercooler coolant temperature”.)

Didn’t think or know of that. Can you provide me with more info?

Search YouTube with “05 STI AWIC install”.
Then do an internet search for “zero decibel motorsport AWIC”.
Good stuff. I’d put a fan on the front and power it from some spare circuit in the fuse box under the dash. That would make installing a switch a bit easier. Through the grommet in the firewall near where the clutch master cylinder mounts, I ran my mapDCCD, exhaust temp, and boost signal. There’s still plenty of room for AWIC fan, IC coolant temp, and water sprayer switch among other future plans/dreams.

Err, on second thought, if the IC coolant temp is hot enough to need a fan, the normal fans would already be running. Yeah, no third fan is likely needed.
