That burnt clutch smell?!

Post by yellowblaze »

Anyone ever figure out what it is, and how to fix it? We rented an 05 Outback auto before we bought the baja for a trip to NC, and it had it (had about 4,000 miles on it)-and the Baja has it too (has gotten worse since we bought it with 3,000 on it 12/04, it now has @12,000 on it). Since both are Automatics, and it smells like burnt clutch, we are at a loss. It's buggin the heck out of us!

I experienced it once (about 3 weeks ago), and it went away as mysteriously as it appeared. It had snowed the previous day and there was lots of icey stuff stuck in the wheel wells and underneath. Since the smell went away, we figure it was snow related.
