Speedometer signal lead location?

Post by Pow »

Looks like I'll be dropping a GPS stereo receiver into my '06 Baja, part of the installation calls for tapping into the signal lead from the speedometer so the GPS gets more accurate speed info for making calculations. IMO it should be completely unnecessary but apparently without it I'll always be initially greeted with a message that the speed pulse isn't detected each time it powers on, or possibly more often. Have zero clue which wire this would be, anyone know?

For AT there is a signal from the TCU to the ECU, from there to the gauge cluster.
For MT there is a signal from the speed sensor on the side of the trans to the ECU, from there to the gauge cluster.

I've got an AT but good info all the same, thanks! Any idea what the coloring of this wire might be and if it is consistent between both AT and MT models?
