Head Gasket or Oil pan leak

Post by WillGT »

Just took my Baja over to the local dealer here for an oil change. They told me that there was a small leak near the oil pan and it could be head gaskets or the oil pan.

Mine started to leak as well and our local Subaru dealership dropped the repair price and I have a 2003. I went somewhere else anyway to get it done because I found another company who beat Subaru's 'discounted' price. PRICE WARS!! [smilie=666.gif]
Sadly, the leaking gaskets does seem to be a common problem but once replaced, they should last a while. Supposedly, they fixed or upgraded the gaskets.

It seems to be a common issue with the '03 models. I had it happen on my previous '03, but my mechanical breakdown insurance was a big help, only paid my deductable of $250 for a job that was quoted at $2200. Keeping a close eye on my current '03, because it could happen again.

Does it seem to be less of a problem with the 04, 05, 06 models?
