2003 Subaru Engine Siezed

Post by coloradoosubuckeye »

I bought a 2003 Baja used back in 2005 and noticed that it started burning oil about 1.5 year ago but I was out of warranty. I took it to the dealership and they told me to just keep adding oil and it will be fine, unless I wanted to replace the motor. Now the motor went out over the weekend and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. The dealer found a used motor for $2K and want $2k to install it, do you think it's worth it, or should I sell it for parts and get a new subie?

depends on how attached you are to THAT Subie and how easy it is to replace it with something that will fit your needs as well...

I think you should tell them you want the Core motor as well, haul it home in the bed and then take it apart yourself and rebuild it as a "just in case" since you never know what you are going to get with a used anything.
