Funny smell when using heater

Post by Sabber »

Have started to have a weird smell when I use the heater in the baja on front vent and recycle air, kind of like a hot plastic/electronics smell. This is my first winter having it, just wondering if this is somewhat normal or if anyone else has had this problem?

funny like when you crank up your furnace for the season for the 1st time in your house kinda funny smell?

I have no such problem in my Scooby, but have had in other cars something of a less than attractive smell and that is usually because some residue or mold or something settle in the ducts and I would have to treat the vents with some BG Frigi-Fresh or some kind of chemical treatment of the sort like that

It is not normal and if it smells like burning plastic it is not mold or mildew and is most likely a short. I'd have it checked out if you smell it again because if it is a short it could cause a fire.
