from my dealings with them on other cars here at work...they are not the greatest when it comes to longevity...the most milage I have seen reasonably gotten out of a set of this is 35,000 miles, though most seem to be getting around 25-ish before they start to complain...but the way they drive around here and the brutality rate of the roadways performing carnage the way that they do....that is as much a contributor as anything else...

Hey all.
I'm looking to put some 17" rims on my Baja with tires that have a little wider tread pattern. Has anyone else attempted this?

Here are my Yokohama Geolanders AT/S 235/60/16. No rubbing at all so far. Sorry, photo is from my phone but I'm busy being lazy.

You'll like the Grids. They are a tremendous improvement over the RE 92s. I've put about 35k on mine and they still have over half of their tread left.

OK, researched the heck out of a suitable tire for my purposes. Too much information was making my head spin and I think the Yokohama Geolanders AT/S 235/60/16 are the best tire for my situation. Thanks "gifters". No rubbing and a quiet ride for an aggressive tread pattern.

Does anyone know what the biggest tire size possible is without rubbing anything for a stock rim?

depends what you want in big wheels, high tire or wider tire.
If 16 "225/70/16 I think there will be no problems. There are many great distance from all sides in fenderliner

I am looking for a tall tire. I am trying to figure out how much clearance I can give my Baja. I am hoping to get a 225 75 16 on there but I have to do some measuring when I get home.

until you try you can not understand, you go to a service for tires mounted on a tire rim 225/75 put it on the car jack and start hitting the spot to rotate the wheel to see if rests somewhere. You can experiment with a second hand wheel thrown.

A 225/75/16 is not gonna happen. The problem you will run into is that there is not enough room at the front and rear of the wheel well to fit a tire with that large of a diameter. The only person I've seen that has bothered to do a bit of trimming and pounding to get a larger tire on was Buck Rogers on Nasioc, but it was a bit of effort for barely any gain.

Just got my new boots on today. Cooper Discoverer AT/3's

$135.00 each with a $70.00 rebate with purchase of 4!!!

I purchased the 215-70/16's.

There is about 1/2" between the front of the rear tire and the inner lower fender at the front of the rear wheel well. When turning lock to lock there is about 1/2" between the inner fenders and the corner of the tire. I was told it might hit if I hit a big bump when driving and turning.

After the install I found a radar sign near a school and at 40 miles per hour on the speedo the sign showed 40!!! Maybe this thing was made for these tires!!!!!
