Baja: Anything You DON'T Like ?

Post by jeffsmith »

Things are getting a bit too quiet around here @ Scoobytruck

So....

I have decided to stir things up just a bit

Ok We all really love our Bajas
otherwise we wouldn't be posting on a Baja BBS

But as much as we like our Bajas
There must be something we don't like about them
(or wish was different )

I'll start

I Wish

A. the doors locked automatically when it started moving
B. the folding seat was split 50/50 60/40 whatever

Anyone Else ?

Bigger, more functional hood scoop on the turbo models.

I'm not even sure the stock one actually allows enough air in to be effective. Maybe at highway speeds, but just cruising around town, I get the feeling that the intercooler is permanently heatsoaked. Why couldn't we get a decent one like the Forester 2.5 XT??? That one is also separate from the hood, like the WRX, allowing for aftermarket replacement!
2005 turbo - WRX intercooler, Samco hoses, GFB bov, 3" Helix catless downpipe, 2.5" SS CatBackEx, front and rear skidplates(for rocks and logs), Westin safari bar, lots of Hella 500's

You're right about that, it has been quiet!

My dislike would be that the Baja is a little too heavy for the 2.5 liter N/A engine.

A hard Tonneau for ALL Bajas-not just the T w/at & leather
The towing capacity is kinda on the low side
Would like a third seat in the back
better brakes

I would say better stock ground clearance for one. I will have to address that some time in the future. Also, better brakes, they work ok, but could be better, especially in an emergency situation. Mike

The ability to swap out that dumb*** donut for a full-size spare... and a locking fuel cap.

8) I love my Baja, but would change a few things if possible.
1. Doors should lock on startup.
2. All doors should unlock with 1 click on remote instead of just unlocking drivers door.
3. Loose the passthrough to the bed of 'truck' and replace w/ power rear window.
4. Have horn honk when locking car with remote. Then you know it is locked even if you're halfway across the parking lot from your car.
5. Factory 12V power outlet in bed of vehicle would be nice.
6. Fullsize spare would be nice.
7. Boost gauge for turbo models.
8. Powdercoated sport bars instead of chrome.

I wish the control bottons for the locks, and side mirror controls would illuminate in darkness.....

also wish that the side view mirrors also had auto dimming not just the rear view mirror

Wish there was an inside latch for the gas cap cover verses the unlockable gas cap cover we have now....they have a great one for the Tribeca.

(Others already mentioned high on my list...full spare, and ground clearance.)

Wish they still had the nice soft seat material for the seats that were in my '03....it was very hot weather freindly....now I burn my arse and legs.

Wish they had the little holder that was....in the '03 in the middle console for the rear passengers.....now its just some useless concavement waste of space.

Come on now....80 watt speakers suck....

wish the rear window could slide open in the middle....like the big boy trucks do.

Do you hear me on these points?

I love my baja other wise I wouldn't have bought 2 of them! Most versital, original car I've ever seen or owned. If they make one for '07....well I'll feel lied to about all the hoopla that baja was a goner.

Are you serious about wanting a sliding window instead of the midgate? I have had to lower the midgate MANY times for long items. Having it go up and over the bulkhead would be a major pain.

Personally if they could make it strong enough a midgate with a rolldown window IN IT would be awesome (think chevy avalanche style)

I personally would prefer a sliding rear window, but I very rarely haul large items, plus I have 2 carseats in the backseat for my kids, so using the midgate for me is a pain in the rear. I could see how it would come in handy for other people and uses. I like your idea of a midgate with a power window!
