What is the fastest you've had your Baja up to?

I just hit triple digits for a few seconds before having to shut it back down quick. I know there was much, much more to go though!

Driving an '05 Turbo MT.

[smilie=holyshit.gif] My 03 n/a hasn't been over 75 mph yet. I don't think it could get to 100 unless there was a 70 mph tailwind. No good places around here to even try to get er up to top speed. Mike

I have driven my '03 up to 100.......but I haven't had a chance to speed safely away from radar in the turbo......my question is this? When I was overseas and I could truely go as fast as I wished in my american car on the autobahn....my Jeep Grand Cherokey and my Ford escort both had the governor control in place @ 100-115. It feels as if it won't take anymore gas @ that point, and you can feel it in the petal as well as see the speed dial go immediately down. Doesn't Subaru have governors on them too? In the U.S. don't all cars (newer ones) have a chip/governors that doesn't allow us to go a certain speed?

coming out of the mountains I had been following a mustang - the big engine one - who wasn't handling the turns like my 05 Turbo Black Pearl can... on the straight away I down shifted and let her go. the mustang was so surprised as i shot past - he floored it and I just smiled, hit fourth, smooth into 5th (gotta love the 5speed standard!) and watched him wide eyed shrink in my mirror! Looked down and was comfortably heading up at 110+ Love the drive!!

 Oooooo!!! You're all gonna be in soooo much trouble!! Hehe...I only got Slippy(Baja) up to 116 going downhill on the PA turnpike. Saw a Caprice with a whip antennae heading in the other direction..and Slippy decided she'd rather not spend the weekend in an impound lot:( But yea...I do believe every car needs to be topped out once and a while. Be safe people.

I havnt had mine much over 110. THose RE-092s don't make me too confident. But yes, there is a speed limiter programmed into the computer.

Im rather sure its the rev limiter that kicks in not a you cant go faster than this # limiter thats how most cars are governed now a days me thinks I got my friends s2000 up to 150 and it was getting close to redline......limited by gear ratio......sometimes i wish my car had a 6th :(

the baja reeeeeally needs a 6th gear.

with that said, i got mine up to 120 or so before i started getting paranoid about virginia cops. they're ruthless.

The modern Subaru ECUs do have a speed cutoff programmed in. It is very possible however that the speed limiter is set at a higher speed than the top of 5th could achieve, therefore the rev limit in top gear is the speed cut.

[smilie=thatworks.gif] I have had my '06 Baja Turbo MT up to 125mph on a big stretch of open freeway (it was 5 am and there was no one on the road as far as the eye could see, and no place for the police to hide. So I felt safe that I wasn't endagering anyone but myself! The vehicle did it no sweat, and felt really solid on the road. I was going to push it harder, but then I started to question what the speed rating on on our factory tires are? Anyone know what the Potenzas are rated at? Does any one know what our speed limiters are set at? My last rig was was a Dakota Quad \Cab with a V8 with MT and performance exhaust and the speed limiter on it was set for 115 mph. They set them for 112 mph on the AT. Not very exciting! Not that you want to go that fast in a rig that weighs that much!
They sure could use a 6 speed tranny! :)
Thanks in advance for any reply!
