Hardcover lockset

Post by TimmyG »

On New Years Day 2021 I rescued a 2006 Baja Turbo with 99.500 miles on it. It’s the blue one. It runs great. But as you can guess by the miles, there a few things that don’t work. One is the locks and linkage on the hardcover. I went to my local Subaru parts center and was told all parts are available except the lockset. Does anyone have a lead on oem locksets? Will another lockset work? Can a locksmith repair or rebuild my existing rusty locks?
I was really happy to acquire this Baja. I’m hoping to get a new oem replacement so that the keyhole has a cover.

Those haven't been made in over a decade and there are no spare parts for the bed covers. You're going to have to fab one up or have a locksmith restore it.

You may have better luck at a camper repair place. I have a snuglid that the locksmith basically laughed at and told me to try that.

He did make a key for it, though.

Thanks guys. I guess I got some research to do. I’ll post my results and a review of work done.
