It has been quite some time and things have been absolute madness. Teaching High School, teaching College, Doing Ironwork, and taking college classes as well. Not much for the freetime. We have made some very good progress and we are one week away from the Piston Powered Autorama that the Baja will be unveiled at.

This was on Friday just passed, primed and ready to go into paint. We are using a Mazda colour that would naturally be a pearl coat and be a PITA. When it is all said and done though... she gonna be sharp.

Everyone needs headlights ... right? These were brand new, baked, tore apart, painted, and put back together to be baked. They do have halos and will have to be wired in... much fun.
I did want to show that we had to carve a fairly large chunk of floorpan out to make these tires work proper... worth it IMO.

We did finish the roof rack and I built a spare tire rack for the bed because I needed 2 spares... directional tires.

Actually due to the Rona, we have not finished it yet. I will take some pics today and upload them later. It is close but we still have much work to do.

Awesome! Can't wait to see them! 😁🤗

I have an 04 turbo, just getting a 2" lift on her and new rims and tires will come soon as well.
Been toying with the idea of taking those body kits off and paint them to make it a proper 2 tone. Do you have any tips on taking them off without damaging them? What is that darn seal strip thing at top of them between the kit and the actual body?

Thanks for tips in advance!

Well, after a bit of madness that we call the last year, I have gotten a few more pics of the Baja. We are not entirely done with it yet, but we should be done before the end of the school year.
We Raptor lined the body skirts (I think that is what they are called) and gotten the headlights in. I am waiting for a few more panels to be sprayed so that I can put the spare tires mount in. We still have to de-nib and buff the clearcoat, and then we can mount the cargo rack.

Great build so far! Fellow biker here as well (Infidels MC patch member). My Baja build: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2973

I love your wheel well solution, after almost good enough shaping I broke out the plasma and made space, no regrets. If I missed it in this thread my apologies, but if your Baja is an auto it is absolutely worth installing an IPT high stall Torque Converter. The bigger the tires the more transformative it is in performance. Turning up the boost helps recoup lost power from bigger tires, but even with a high HP build you still have to "crawl out of the hole". The high stall TC lets the engine get into the power band before loading it up and WOW what a difference.

Just getting my 29's fitted is a royal PITA, so those have to be on another level.

Looks Good! Will even be slightly taller that myself. ;)
